Zuhair Murad and Elie Saab stayed within the red carpet gown limit, and with awards season heating up it is certain that celebrity stylists are burning the phones lines with requests. We do like to see something slightly different than beaded work and sheer panels from both designers, but there is always another couture week.
One fashion house noticeably absent from the couture calendar was Givenchy and Riccardo Tisci, who announced back in December that they will skip spring couture week, but will continue creating high fashion clothes for their clients.
Over at Armani Privé ancient looking wands dangled off lapels, rolled up waistbands and added a mysterious feel to the collection. The color palette was truly spectacular consisting of rich red, oranges and saffron.
Karl Lagerfeld outdid himself, not only by transforming the Grand Palais into a forrest but also by showing a collection full of melancholia, sequins, flowers and spectacular tweeds. Last but certainly not least is Christian Dior. It is incredible to watch the ease and confidence of Raf Simons. After all, he took the helm at Dior less than a year ago and already understands the DNA of the fashion house as if he's been there since the beginning. And new beginnings, just like spring, was at the core of his collection which took place in a make-believe lyrical garden. Flowers, sky blue colors, serene and full of light is only a few words that could describe a truly beautiful collection. ''
